Sustainable Wedding at Lake Starnberg – Esther & Carli

The wedding day of Esther & Carli began with a very emotional First Look photoshoot at Lake Starnberg. Afterwards, we headed to the civil ceremony in Penzberg, followed by a beautiful free ceremony with the lovely Kasia and a celebration at Gasthaus RamsAu. It was such a beautiful day, and I’m so grateful to have been part of it as their wedding photographer!

For Esther & Carli, it was especially important that their wedding was sustainable, which is why Esther made so many things herself :-).

First Look & Couple Shooting at Starnberger See

After the First Look photoshoot, we captured some couple portraits before heading to Penzberg for the civil ceremony.

“… After that, we stayed in constant contact to make sure all our wishes for the wedding day came together. Alex supported us greatly with her experience. On the day itself, she worked tirelessly for 12 hours: from the First Look to the civil ceremony, the free ceremony, and the party. She captured all the beautiful moments without us or our guests feeling ‘constantly photographed.’

We received the photos just four weeks after our wedding and are still thrilled with her work. We would hire her anytime again and are already looking forward to our next session!”

From there, we continued to the free ceremony and wedding celebration at Gasthaus RamsAu.

As mentioned, sustainability was very important to the couple. Esther purchased her dress from a sustainable bridal shop and even created many of the table decorations herself:

“The jars are from Sylter (they sell milk rice, red fruit pudding, etc.). Carli and my father had to eat a lot 🤪. Then I sprayed the jars with chalk paint (beige and anthracite) and filled them with soy wax (organic) 🥰. Afterward, I tied a macrame band around the top and added dried flowers in the middle.”

Tip: Dried flowers aren’t always sustainable because chemicals and bleaching agents may be used. Make sure to check where they come from and how they were dried. If you have fresh flowers, see which ones can be dried sustainably – you’ll be surprised.

The adorable succulents were given as guest gifts (I even have one in my kitchen 🥰).

All food and cakes were vegetarian or vegan – very delicious! For live music, the band Pink Beat played in the afternoon and was fantastic.

A fun touch: to estimate how many dishes of each kind would be needed, guests grabbed a colorful token (see photo).

Between coffee and cake, just before dinner, we captured the last sun rays for another mini photoshoot. After dinner, Carli performed a romantic gesture for Esther, and then the dance floor opened.
