Cebu – Moalboal

Upon arriving at Cebu airport, we shared a taxi with two other travelers. This way, the four-hour drive to Moalboal cost 2,000 Pesos instead of 3,000. Without heavy traffic, the trip would probably take around three hours, but taking the bus would have been much longer.

Moalboal is located on the west coast of the Philippine island of Cebu. We saw a whale shark, swam with turtles, dived through the Sardines Run, and went on an adventurous canyoning tour at the Kawasan Falls. We had to jump down waterfalls, and I still can’t believe I actually did it!

When we arrived at our guesthouse, it was already dark, so we decided to eat there. Our bungalow—a cute little hut—was completely open all around. As a result, there were plenty of insects. Spiders had made themselves at home inside our fairly large room, and cockroaches wandered through our open-air bathroom. The upside? You could watch the stars while showering.

Dinner, however, was excellent, and the people at the guesthouse were very friendly. Two female world travelers, two Indians, and two Poles shared the table with us, and we heard some fascinating stories from all of them.
