Volcano Sibayak

We drove about 20 minutes in a small pickup from our hostel, Kaesa Homestay (highly recommended), to the starting point. Equipped with a flashlight or headlamp, we began our ascent to the summit of Mount Sibayak at 4 a.m. It took about an hour to reach the top, where we were rewarded with a breathtaking view. Unfortunately, it was a bit cloudy that day, but that only added to the mystical atmosphere.
Irgendwann kletterten wir wieder hinunter in den Krater, wo wir uns auch in den Schwefelrauch stellen konnten. Da es uns oben durch den Wind doch etwas kühl geworden ist, setzten wir uns auf die warmen Steine und bestaunten die gelben Schwefelschwaden. Der Abstieg dauerte wieder gut eine Stunde und unser Guide erklärte uns erneut, dass es nicht ratsam ist, diese Tour alleine auf eigene Faust zu unternehmen.
